Soaking up the Thirst of the Land…

Ladies and gentlemen, I present: AQUAHOMBRE!!!!

Of all heroes, I didn’t set out to repaint and rebase Aquaman. It came about quite by accident. Recently I had a quick rummage through the bitz box on an unrelated project, and I discovered this Aquaman Heroclix left over from a Forgotten Heroes conversion I did back in 2018. I had popped him off his dial and used the water spout to make the Water Wizard.

(I never throw anything away. That Water Wizard was also made from a Quicksilver body and a Weather Wizard head; the Weather Wizard’s body was used to make the Aquarian. along with a head from a different Aquaman miniature, the hook of which was used on this Pulp Figures conversion. Finally, the Quicklsilver head was used the year before to make Jack Frost, along with a body from a Heroclix Scorpion. As for Scorpion’s head, I have no idea where that ended up.)

The entire time I worked on this conversion, this song was running through my head. It will run through your head too, if you listen to it. It’s insidious, and you will grow to like it. It drove me so nuts I looked up the video on YouTube. It reminded me how much I love this movie, because…Julie Adams. I know, right? What is it with girls named Julie? Adams, Newmar, Christie…it’s a good name, is what I’m saying.

Anyway, I had some “seaweed” and some shells left over from my Under the Sea diorama last month, so that got me thinking of making another underwater base. Since Aquaman is at his coolest in his element (as cool as he can be, anyway), it seemed appropriate to base him underwater. Again, credit to Eons of Battle for the base tutorial.

And here he is. I painted his stupid water hand to look like flesh so he would better resemble the classic, lame-ass Aquaman we all know and mock. (“Go talk to some fish!”)

Here’s my attempt at making Aquaman cool; although if Jason Momoa can’t do it, who am I to think I can? He was a fun little project in the midst of some others, and it’s been a while since repainted some ‘Clix. It’s a bit of an amuse-bouche for June…when Forgotten Heroes comes around again!

Nice repaint Keith, and a rather cool bae to (much better than the Klicker’s toilet water one!! I was never an Aquaman fan, though I did think the movie was one of the better DC efforts, I liked Jason as Conan too, though that got absolutely slammed by the critics.

    Cheers Roger.

I remember seeing that Conan movie, Roger. but I can’t recall a single thing about it. I certainly didn’t hate it, though, or I would have remembered. I’m in the middle of a rewatch of Karl Urban as Dredd. WHY THE HELL HAS THERE NOT BEEN A SEQUEL TO THIS?????

They’re making a TV series Keith, called Mega City One, and Karl will turn up occasionally playing Dredd, but the series will show a lot more about all the craziness that is the place he dwells !

I like d the Karl Urban, Dredd but I also liked elements of the Stallone one (just not Stallone) I think the perfect Dredd would be a combination of both movies.

I agree the Stallone version had some good things. The costumes in particular were really cool. Rob Schneider and Stallone, not so much…I haven’t seen it in a long time, but I was a crazy Dredd fanboy at the time and I remember being incensed (but hardly surprised) that Stallone took off his helmet. Kudos to Karl Urban for “getting it” and making it about the character, not him.

Ha! I was just recommending Judge Minty to Tom, the guy on this very thread! I haven’t seen the Strontium Dog one…I’ll check it out. I’d look for you, but I have no idea what you look like, Dave.

You wouldn’t be able to recognise me even if you did, as I’m dressed as a rock monster, restraining Johnny Alpha, by the way the laugh is not mine, it was dubbed in afterwards

Great job on the repaint and the base, matey! I have to admit, from my limited knowledge of comic books I’ve often thought, “What’s the point of this guy again?” But I did enjoy the movie.

Too late, I thought about how the base would be better if I used a toy whale or something like that. Oh well. He’s stuck with what I gave him, because I’ve already put too much of my time into Aquaman. 🙂 Thanks for the kind words nonetheless.
